The ALD multi-chamber furnace type DualTherm® combines perfectly the vacuum furnace and cold quench chamber and is therefore the optimal solution to harden even low-alloyed steels successfully

The case hardening process is drastically accelerated in the SyncroTherm® -unit,  so that the process matches the cycle-time of soft-machining. Instead of big batches with multiple layers, the components are treated in one layer only. These so called “2D-batches” guarantee a rapid and very homogenous heat treatment for all heat treatment steps such as austenitizing, carburizing and quenching. This homogenous treatment guarantees optimum reproducibility of the heat treat quality.

ALD Vacuum Technologies has developed and built sintering plants for hard metals, cermets and other PM-materials for more than 50 years. The use of the latest technologies results in the improved and lasting quality of the sintering products. Substantial savings in process time leads to much higher productivity and cost reduction.

When reactive materials such as titanium, zirconium, superconductors and hydrogen storage materials, shape memory alloys, magnets, intermetallic alloys and high temperature materials are to be processed with stringent requirements towards cleanliness and structural control, the cold crucible induction melting and casting method is the solution to overcome major limitations of the induction melting method with ceramic crucibles.

The alloy types which can be manufactured by powder metallurgy cover a broad spectrum, ranging from soldering and brazing alloys for the electronics industry, nickel, cobalt and iron-base superalloys for the aircraft industry, hydrogen storage and magnetic alloys, up to reactive alloys such as titanium for the sputter target production.

The nitrogen gas buffer tank serves as a supply vessel for the quenching gas and is filled from the customer's own gas supply. The storage capacity as well as the high tank pressure guarantees a rapid flooding of the evacuated furnace vessel to the requested quenching pressure.
